Bike Tour – Zanskar

Zanskar is one of the most remotest and a least visited place without which Ladakh is incomplete. Zanskar, covers an area of some 7,000 square kilometres ,lies at an altitude of about 3,500 to 7,000 metres (11,500–23,000 feet) amsl. The Zanskar valley is a paradise for adventure travel enthusiasts and not for the comfort seeker. Do enjoy the adrenalin rush, in the hidden kingdom of Zanskar . Day 1st – Arrive Leh : After catching the early morning flight to Leh(11500 ft) from Delhi(777 ft). As the plains give way to mountains. And after crossing the the Great Himalayan Range you can see the stretch of the high altitude dessert below ,you are welcomed and received by representative of Ladakh Bike Rental at the airport and drive to hotel or guest house. The rest of the day is spent in Acclimatization walks and an orientation walk in the markets of Leh.

Day 2nd – Leh – Lamayuru (5-6 hrs) : After having a proper introduction with a team LBR, you get the brief and concise introduction concerning biking in ladakh and any other queries regarding the tour . After getting well versed with your bikes by having a short ride, the tour will be kick started and we will proceed to Lamayuru(11364 ft) a 120 km far from Leh which has a famous monastery and it is a one of the prime attraction. Enroute Lamayuru you can visit Pathar Sahib, Magnetic hill ,and Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar river).The whole route has an easy riding condition with no Passes.

Day 3rd – Lamayuru –Panikar ( 7-8 hrs ) : Back on the road in the early morning towards Panikar since today we have to cross two passes the Namki la and Photo la. After riding for 3 hours with moderate riding conditions, we reach Kargil town(8780 ft) for our lunch, and to get the supplies for the bikes and ourselves since there is no petrol pump upto zanskar. Now from Kargil onwards the conditions of road starts becoming deteriorate and once metalled road become a dirt trial and from here onwards it continues all the way upto padum ,with a small stretch of metalled roads in between. The road travels along the side of suru river with a Nun kun glaciers at its backdrop. Overnight at panikar.

Day 4 – Panikhar –Padum via Pentsila(14752 ft) ( 8-9 hrs) : In the morning after breakfast we leave Panikar towards Padum via Pentsila. Enroute enjoy the beautiful village of Rangdum with its ancient monestry and the roads starts ascending towards Pensi la (14000 ft) the highest point between leh to kargil and you find yourself surrounded by glaciers, small lakes and beautiful marmots and the beauty was such that you can’t resist yourself to take few shots and from here onwards the real beauty of Zanskar become apperant. Without taking much time we roll down towards Padum and you ride on the road full of dirt upto the outskirts of padum where you are greeted by a tarmac road after riding for about 180 km on dirt trials . Padum is a small town with all amenities like hotel, restaurant, internet café etc.

Day 5th – Zanskar : The day is for exploring zanskar with its ancient monestries of which the major ones are Stongday, Sani, and Karsha. The route offers stunning landscapes, Gonpas, forts and tall multi hued mountains. By the noon we will back to padum. Overnight camp at padum with a bonfire and music.

Day 6 After lunch move to Rangdum: (5 hrs) : So today after resting upto lunch we will ride back to Rangdum on our way back to leh and stayed at Rangdum for the night.

Day 7th Rangdum to Hamboting la (13283 ft) (8-9 hrs) : After morning breakfast we leave Rangdum towards Hamboting via kargil since we chose a different route from kargil onwards on our way back to leh. You are now in a pristine Batalik sector.

Day 8th Hombothang to Hemis shukpachan(8-9 hrs) : So today in the morning we leave towards Hemis shukpachan a simple and beautiful village nestled between the mountains with its lush green fields, where we meet some trackers too .We ride all the way from Hamboting upto outskirts of Hemis shukpachan on the bank of mighty river indus, enroute enjoy the scenery of villages of Dharkon, Dha, Beema and Hanu with pure Aryans a descendants of Alexander army. Spend some time checking the unique cultures of these peoples. Camp overnight at Hemis shukpachan.

Day 9 Hemis shukpachan to Leh(6-7 hrs+ 2 hrs Rafting) : Kick Start the bikes for the final lap of the tour on the way back to Leh with easy riding conditions on well metalled roads enroute we visit the famous basgo castle and monastery and while arriving at the sangam we park our bike at the same point and move further for our rafting expedition upto chilling, which will make you feel refresh after the tiring tour.

Day 10 Leh to Pangong (6-7 hrs) : Today in the early morning soon after our breakfast we’ll ride towards world famous Pangong Lake. and before that we have to cross the Chang la 17590 ft (third higest motorable road)the scenery is simply fantastic, a little bit of off roading , crossing small streams of water and thundering over rocks we climb to changla, and enjoy the hot steaming black tea and by riding down changla you can zip through the narrow roads while enjoying the breeze and the beautiful views all around,soon Durbuk and Tangtsi in our view. Enroute don’t miss the chance to meet the ‘Himalayan Marmots’ who are brave enough to take food stuffs from you and they don’t even mind to be clicked with you. When we reached Pangong Lake there was bright sunlight and the view was simply breathtaking. Explore the lake, take photographs and enjoy the hot tea along the lake side with fresh air which will refresh you.

Day 11 Pangong to leh(6-7 hrs) : Today is the last day of our ride, We trace our route to go back to leh via chanla the same route where we take a stop to catch the amazing view from roof of the world with cup of coffee, by rolling down one can view full panorama of the Himalayas . By arriving leh town tour ends at our office Ladakh bike rental.

Terms & Conditions

• Driving License holders can only drive.
• Helmet compulsory for rider.
• Any damage to the bike, cost charges will be borne by the hirer.
• Traffic Rules should be followed and any penalty is to be borne by the hirer.
• Delayed returning of bike, charges @ 100 p/h
• Extra charges are applicable for pick and drop of vehicle to hotel/Guest House.
•  Bike Renting time duration is from 08:00 am to 8:00 pm but if our customers are taking it for more than 1 day then they can keep the bike along with them  and bring it to us next day  8:00 pm

Rental Requirements.
• Security deposit ,Original photo id like (pan card,voter ID or passport).
• Full amount of Rent to be paid in advance.
